Founding member of ASDP in 1984 in Portland, Oregon. Served on committee to found the national organization in 1991. Served on national board during the 90's including national chair 1998-2000.
Chaired the committee that wrote the Quality Standards in the Custom Clothing Field. Served on the MSDP committee to write the curriculum for certification and has chaired the MSDP National Board since 2009. She also is serving on the Apprenticeship Committee. Owned and operated Catherine Stephenson Couture in Portland, Oregon for 35 years and taught apparel design at the Art Institute of Portland for 17 years. Now retired in Ajijic, Mexico where she produces a line of clothing called Ajijic Chic.
